The Goldman Sachs Undergraduate Camp is a two-day program for Black, Latino/Hispanic, and Native American college undergraduate freshmen and sophomores who are interested in exploring the numerous career paths in the financial services industry, and learning more about summer internship opportunities at the firm.

Join Goldman Sachs on June 24-25 in New York for this great program. It will feature challenging and interactive case studies, career workshops, techical and soft skills training, and networking with Goldman Sachs business and recruiting professionals.

Deloitte Consulting will be hosting an online Case Interview Workshop TOMORROW, March 4th at 12-1pm.  This is open to all students, but the mentor program is only for Juniors.  More information is below.  To students who already saw this on naviGATE last week, please note that the dial-in code has been changed.
Deloitte will be hosting an online Case Workshop to prepare Colgate students for case interviews. Through this program, Colgate Juniors will be matched with a Deloitte Consulting mentor.  Throughout the spring semester, the student will have the opportunity to practice case interviews, receive feedback, and become confident with their case interview skills.
Join some recent Colgate alums who now work at Deloitte Consulting LLP for an online information session about Case Interviews and to hear more about the Case Interview Buddy Program. Please note that the buddy portion of this program is only open to Juniors but the initial workshop is available for all!

Thomas Friedman on Google (and getting hired)

“But Bock is saying something important to them [young people going to college], too: Beware. Your degree is not a proxy for your ability to do any job. The world only cares about — and pays off on — what you can do with what you know (and it doesn’t care how you learned it). And in an age when innovation is increasingly a group endeavor, it also cares about a lot of soft skills — leadership, humility, collaboration, adaptability and loving to learn and re-learn. This will be true no matter where you go to work.”

In light of the most recent job opportunity highlight, I just found an article by Thomas Friedman from last week’s New York Times. It is titled: “How to get a job at Google” – check it out! Friedman reviews an interview with Laszlo Bock (SVP of people operations) that appeared last June in the NYTimes.

Thought the last paragraph (above) had a great message for students – go liberal arts!

Accelerator is an intensive immersion in business designed exclusively for undergraduates and recent grads in all majors. During the month of June, students are immersed in real-world consulting roles. Within competing teams and with instruction from Owen faculty, students are challenged to solve real-world problems for global businesses. And in doing so, students shape their careers and gain a unique advantage and perspective over their peers, in ways that a traditional internship simply cannot come close to replicating.
